The Corpus Christi Film Society Newsletter - 05.12.09 Part IIAUSTIN FILM SOCIETY WORKSHOP THIS SUNDAY - THIS IS IMPORTANT... If you've ever wanted 'more film stuff' in CC, then I hope you will seriously consider attending this event EVEN IF you won't benefit from the overt purpose of it. CCFS and Reel Simple Productions will present an informational workshop by The Austin Film Society for local filmmakers to receive grant monies to make films via the Texas State Production Fund. The larger story and important part of this message is that the Austin Film Society is coming here at all. This is big news and I hope you'll support this. This workshop tour is making stops all over the state in all the cities that you would imagine they would, but has never come to Corpus Christi. The Austin Film Society's Director of Artist Services Bryan Poyser (and 2008 CC7D jurist) will conduct this free informational workshop. The out-of-town 2008 CC7D jurists were brought in to not only up the stakes of the judging process. We brought the Austin Film Society, the Texas Film Commission and SWAMP in to purposefully highlight what’s going on locally. It’s starting to pay off. They saw the CC7D films made by over 25 local filmmaking teams and are curious to see what's really going on down here. Come out simply to show AFS your face. Local filmmaking exists. Help prove it. The workshop will be on Sunday, May 17, 2009 at The Art Center of Corpus Christi located at 100 Shoreline Blvd. The workshop will begin at 3:00 PM and last until 4:30 PM. It is free and open to everyone. No registration is required. The Austin Film Society's Director of Artist Services Bryan
Poyser (and 2008 CC7D jurist) will conduct this free
informational workshop about AFS's Texas
Filmmakers' Production Fund, which annually offers grants of up to
$15,000 to Texas filmmakers. He will take participants through the
application form step-by-step and screen work samples from successful
applications. Filmmakers residing in Texas for at least one year prior to the
June 1, 2009 deadline are eligible to apply to TFPF,
which has given out over $930,000 in cash, goods and services to Texas
filmmakers since 1996. For more information on the Fund, and for a
schedule of other workshops throughout Texas, visit
here. For more information about the Texas Filmmakers' Production Fund visit their page at www.austinfilm.org
