The Whole Shootin’ Match (1978), long unavailable for viewing, has been restored and reissued in DVD format by Watchmaker Films. Directed by the late Eagle Pennell, “The Whole Shootin’ Match,” starring Davis and the late Lou Perryman, is a pioneering work of Texas independent filmmaking in the 1970’s. The film was shot in and around Austin and is saturated with the regional flavor of rural central Texas. Rich in humor and pathos, the plot tells the story of two good ol’ boys looking for a way to get rich.
Davis has appeared in “Fast Times at Ridgemont High” (1982), “Last Night at the Alamo” (1984), “Lonesome Dove” (1989), “Thelma & Louise” (1991), “Fair Game” (1994), “I Saw Mommy Kissing Santa Claus” (2001), “The Santa Trap” (2002), “The Three Burials of Melquiades Estrada” (2005) and the recently-completed “Javelina.” (2009).
