| June 21, 2008 What is KWM?
Joe began the show ruminating about What KWM 'is'. Unless you're an astute kWM web reader, you wouldn't know he was basically reading the newest text from the 'What is KWM' page of the site - click here.
Leadership Corpus Christi
Karen King called in to discuss Leadership Corpus Christi since applications for this year's class are due now. Click here for the application. Joe went through Leadership CC in 2004 and is a large supporter of it. Critics of Leadership CC typically have no idea what they're talking about relying on assumption and hearsay to further their preconceived anti-city agenda. Leadership CC is not a fraternity, a clique or a puppet organization. Graduates are not hand picked by the Chamber, the EDC, the city or our large corporation. Joe served as Selection Chair for the 2007-2008 class and has seen the 'innermost workings' of LCC. Sadly, he reports, it's not as sexy as the conspiracy theorists would lead you to believe. Leadership CC is open to anyone who is employed (by either a for-profit or non-profit company), gets the sign off of their employer to participate, and can afford the enrollment fee (see the application for those details). You should look into it.
Carrie Underwood vs. Coldplay
Carrie Underwood played ABC the night after this show which Joe dismissed as good for CC (she's a huge A-list talent), but not interesting to him personally since that's not his type of music. This prompted two questions: 1) What bands would it take to come to CC for him and you to be excited. As a starting point, he referenced Pollstar, a premiere tour website and noted that Coldplay is the #1 tour search on Pollstar - click here. 2) Why do people like what they like? Why do some people like Carrie Underwood and others don't? Why do some people like Coldplay and others don't. This led the show into Dr. Joe.

| June 14, 2008 New Website Joe began the show detailing that the website has been redesigned. The front page had become way too complicated. Joe creates all his own websites via HTML (which is why they suck). The new website should be easier to navigate. Joe detailed that his new blog (click here) will take the place of Joe's Hot Links and Joe's News from the previous home page design. Joe'salways had high hopes for the website in the sense of it being a fun place to go and full of information.Coldplay and Once Come to Texas Coldplay has a new album and tour which Joe will go to. The two stars of Once are also touring two dates in Texas and Joe will go to that too. Click here for the new Coldplay iTunes commercial; Coldplay Tour Info - click here; Coldplay #1 tour search on Pollstar - click here; GLEN HANSARD and MARKETA IRGLOVA Tour Info
KWM BACK PORCH WITH JOHN MAREZ John Marez, City Councilman, District 2 - Click Here for more info on John. This was John's first appearance on KWM and he seemed to get into the flow pretty quickly. His Back Porch question answers weren't too politician-y with his answer to CC's biggest secret being 'Cole Park.' When John gets on a role he's very pro-CC, pro-District 2 and very much into folks getting out there and rediscovering (or simply discovering for the first time) the city they live in. That's some KWM gold! District 2 houses Downtown CC so Joe asked about the hurdles to getting downtown moving to which John explained that the vacant buildings are owned by folks who aren't selling as they 'wait for their big payday.' If folks won't sell, Dtown won't be developed. Joe speculated that Dtown was on it's way with the development of Atlantic Lofts (almost completed) and the Lichtenstein building (just begun). Once downtown was on the table, the phones went nuts. John will be back later in the summer for City Council Smackdown. Joe had invited Curtis Rock in to continue the discussion on creating CC's 20-year vision/general future but they 'went downtown' instead.
