SUGGEST A BACK PORCH GUEST

BACK PORCH ARCHIVE

Sittin' and Jawin' on the KWM Back Porch

Every three weeks (or so) Joe invites a local 'newsmaker' onto the KWM Back Porch. The twist: an honest, open, 'back porch' conversation about Corpus Christi and the Coastal Bend--no pretense, no spin--just two friends talking about the town they live in.

THE KWM BACK PORCH QUESTIONS

During a KWM Back Porch interview, who knows where the conversation will meander. The following questions are asked, though, during our time together.

What does a typical day in the life of the guest look like?
Where do you see Corpus Christi in 5 years?
What is the biggest obstacle to that vision?
What is Corpus Christi's biggest secret?
How do you spend a typical Saturday (hobbies, taking advantage of things CC has to offer?)
Name the one book, one DVD and one CD you'd take with you to the infamous deserted island.

Bryan Smith, Chief of Police

Who knew our Chief of Police was such as arts enthusiast? For our second KWM guest we picked the Chief because we knew he'd be honest and 'get' the gist of the interview: big wigs letting their hair down. Indeed he did admitting among other things that he writes a mean bit of poetry in his down time!

Mayor Henry Garrett
Our first KWM Back Porch Guest

When we chose our first guest, we figured, "Let's get the 'Big Dog.'" And the big dog showed up. Special thanks to the Mayor for kicking off this very popular segment!

What does your typical Saturday look like?
Garrett: My wife and I love to hop on our motorcycle and tour the area. Some of the drives in Corpus Christi are best viewed from a motorcycle. I started out [in the police force] on a motorcycle and I still love them...more than ever.
