The CC7D Kickoff is the official start of the 7-Day Filming Period. A representative from each team, preferably the Team Leader, is required to attend. At this event, teams will register, pay their entry fee, turn in their signed Participant's Agreement and receive this year's essential elements (prop, character, line of dialogue and the secret element).
This is the last chance for those not on a team to find a team.
After all of 'the business' has concluded, the 'starter pistol' will fire which sets the official turn-in time for the CC7D Wrap Party on July 14--exactly 7 days later to the second.
Here is an example of how the Official Turn In Time is set:
The Kickoff Event starts at 6:30 PM. Once everyone is registered, questions are answered and the essential elements revealed, a to-be-determined CC7D steering committee member will use the clock on their networked cell phone to determine the exact time. For the purposes of this example let's assume that time is 7:13 PM. The exact time (7:13 PM, in this example) will be announced loudly and clearly for all to hear and that will be the official turn-in time for the films one week later. Seven days later, that same networked cell phone will be used. When the clock on that cell phone turns to 7:13 PM, the turn-in is OVER. After that time, films will not be accepted.
What invariably happens is that someone will be late. They have fantastic excuses about why they were late. They, their parents (and sometimes their grandparents) will call us late into the night about how they had computer problems, were caught in a traffic jam on the way to the event, etc. Translation: LATE!
The Kickoff Event one of four CC7D events. The Kickoff Party is preceded by The 2010 Cast and Crew Call and followed by the Wrap Party and the CC7D Screening:
1. The Citywide Cast and Crew Call - Several weeks before filmings begins, The Cast and Crew Call is a great place to learn about CC7D and how to get involved. It is open to anyone who would might want to appear in or work on a CC7D film. (Attendance at this event does not guarantee that you will beplaced on a team.)
2. The CC7D Wrap Party - The Wrap Party is where teams turn in their completed (hopefully) films. It begins at 6:30, but films are due exactly 168 hours (7 days) after the end of the kickoff event. This year, The CC7D Wrap Party is on July 14, 2010 at THE VENUE at House of Rock (511 Starr St. in downtown Corpus Christi) beginning at 6:30 PM. It is free and open to all.
3. The CC7D Screening and Awards - The CC7D Screening occurs a few weeks after the films are turned in. It is open to the public and sells out quickly. This year, The CC7D Screening is [DETAILS TBD]. Time TBD.
