CC7D began in 2007 during a conversation over a couple of beers at House of Rock. CCFS founder Frank Dascher and film-event cohort Barbara Billings were discussing Frank's research into making Corpus Christi a 48 Hour Film Project city. Harboring the desire to celebrate Coastal Bend filmmakers and with no ambition to be part of a nationwide contest, they decided to rip off the 48 Hour Film Project instead expanding the 48 hour filming period to 7 days and relaxing some of the rules necessary for a nationwide film contest. CC7D will always be a work in progress as we stay true to our those original goals: celebrate Coastal Bend Filmmakers; recognize regional excellence behind and in front of the camera.

AWARDS
Jury Awards: Every year a Jury is selected to pick the best films and performances. A local certified CPA handles the ballots and delivers the winner envelopes to the CC7D Screening and Award Ceremony. The jury chooses their Grand Jury Winner and the Honorable Mention Winner. In addition, the Jury picks the winners in the following categories: Best Actor, Best Actress, Best Supporting Actor, Best Supporting Actress, and Best Technical Execution.

Audience Award: Every year the audience at the CC7D Screening picks their favorite films via balloted vote. Many filmmakers believe this award is the most exciting to receive.

Special Awards: Every year the CC7D Steering Committee, after reviewing the films and wrap up information, creates Special Awards. These titles of these awards and what they recognize are unknown and may change from year to year.
